Step By Step Process On: How To Change Battery On Mk7 Transit?
Here I will explain you step by step process of how to change battery on mk7 transit? let’s see how to change battery on mk7 transit.
- A set of metric sockets and wrenches
- A Phillips screwdriver
- A flat-blade screwdriver
- A battery retaining clamp
- A wiring loom
- A vent tube
- A new battery
First, you need to remove the storage cover and slide the driver’s seat fully forward to access the battery area.
Then, you need to loosen the nut and disconnect the negative lead clamp from the battery terminal. To avoid accidental reconnection, you should cover the terminal.
On models with two batteries, you need to loosen the nut and disconnect the negative lead clamp from the second battery as well.
After that, you need to disconnect the positive lead clamp from the battery terminal in the same manner. And then, disconnect the positive lead clamp from the second battery.
Now you can pull the vent tube from the side of both batteries (if applicable).
The next step is to remove the battery retaining clamp. It is usually secured by a mixture of bolts and nuts. So, you need to note their fitted locations before undoing the fasteners.
After that, you need to unclip the wiring loom from the clamp and then remove it.
Now you can lift the batteries from their place. Be careful as they are heavy. Avoid damaging the wiring looms as you remove the batteries.
The next step is to maneuver the batteries into position with the negative terminals towards the center of the vehicle and the positive terminals nearest the driver’s door.
After that, you can refit the retaining clamp and secure it with the fasteners. Then, clip the wiring loom back into place on the clamp. Press the vent tubes into the holes in the side of the battery casings.
Now you can remove the cover and press the positive lead clamp firmly down onto the battery positive terminal. Then, you need to tighten the clamp nut securely.
Where applicable, you need to reconnect the positive lead clamp to the second battery in the same manner.
Then, you can remove the cover and press the negative lead clamp firmly down on the battery negative terminal. Again, you need to tighten the clamp nut securely.
Where applicable, reconnect the negative lead clamp to the second battery in the same manner.

How Many Batteries Does The Mk7 Transit Have?
The Transit mk7 van uses the same size battery as many other vehicles on the road- an H6, or Group 48. However, some Transit vans may have two batteries instead of just one. This is due to the fact that the Transit is a larger vehicle than many of the others on the road, and therefore needs more power to run all of its systems. The Transit’s engine is also quite powerful, and so it uses more electricity than smaller, less powerful engines. As a result, the Transit may need two batteries to provide it with the power it needs to run smoothly.
An additional, Most Transit vans come with one battery, but some have two. The batteries are all the same size- an H6 (also known as a Group 48).
How Do You Charge A Mk7 Transit Battery?
This is a common question that we get asked here at the workshop. The answer is actually quite simple and we will outline the process below.
First, you need to open the bonnet and locate the battery. It is usually found in the engine bay, near the front of the vehicle. Once you have found it, you need to remove the negative terminal (black) first, and then the positive terminal (red).
Once the terminals have been removed, you can now begin to charge the battery. We recommend using a standard household charger, such as the one you would use to charge your mobile phone. Simply connect the positive lead to the positive terminal on the battery, and the negative lead to the negative terminal.
Now turn on the charger and leave it for around 12 hours to fully charge the battery. Once the time is up, simply turn off the charger and reconnect the battery terminals. That’s it! You should now have a fully charged battery.
